The Arctic in Focus – The Next Steps
MARISSA Day 18
Event date: 23 September 2025

Our online workshop, hosted by the German Association for Marine Technology (GMT) in cooperation with the MARISSA-Days initiative, The Arctic in Focus – Climate, Resources, Shipping and Maritime Security marked the first time we placed the Arctic at the center of discussion.

In this opening dialogue, we explored the situation in the High North primarily from geopolitical and geostrategic perspectives. Distinguished representatives from politics, research, and industry highlighted the intricate interconnections and mutual dependencies between international law, diverging territorial interests, and economic development.

With the second workshop in this series, we are ready to take the next step. “The Arctic in Focus – The Next Steps” will bring together practitioners and stakeholders in maritime security. Representatives from coast guards, shipping companies, and service providers will share their perspectives, while technology providers will present innovative solutions designed to protect Arctic Sea routes and infrastructures.

We warmly invite you to join us for our 2nd Arctic in Focus Workshop. The full program will be made available shortly on this websites.
